The original Aladdin is my second favorite Disney movie of all time, (Number one is Lilo and Stitch, thank you for asking.) and after that abysmal marketing campaign, I was sure that this new remake would be an atrocity. Maybe it’s because I had such low expectations, but I had a blast with this movie! Will Smith’s genie looks loads better than in the trailers, and he brings a new energy to the film that supplements the other new elements perfectly. This is the only Disney remake thus far that has that Disney feel in it. The other remakes do all they can to squeeze the Disney right out of it, but this feels like a Disney movie. The new song doesn’t fit, and the new Jafar is pretty lame, but this is by far the best of the remakes.
